Sensational Sewing Studio LLC was created to address three problems with weighted products; 1) improve the quality by prioritizing construction methods that would equally distribute weight in a superior way 2) produce products that kids would connect with and feel proud to use, 3) be made with ethical practices in mind.

The company opened in 2025 offering weighted blankets and smaller lap-sized weighted products known as "lap-pads." Intentionally designed for an outstanding sensory experience the product line includes fidget-able lap pads to allow children to fidget while utilizing the calming pressure. They are all handmade here in Lake Township, utilizing high professional standards for construction and quality control.

Sensational Sewing Studio LLC came about after making weighted products for over 10 years. Initially trained in bridal wear design and construction, Cara transferred her skills following the birth of her son and his multiple diagnoses. At that time, weighted blankets were known to the Occupational Therapy community but were far from mainstream, and they certainly weren't designed with children's interests in mind.
